Real Time Social Media Agency
We are a team of writers, strategists, and marketing specialists who work with clients to build strategic social media plans designed to seamlessly integrate with their larger digital ecosystem and sales goals. Since 2007, WideFoc.us has helped small businesses, nonprofits, consumer brands, and global corporations to elevate, refine, and activate their social media presence.
MEET THE TEAM
CEO, Chief Strategist
Eric brings more than 20 years of writing, marketing, ePR, social media, and communications expertise to WideFoc.us clients.
A former teacher and scientist, Eric was youth content editor at the Denver Newspaper Agency, and served as co-founder and publisher of Bias Media before joining PR and venture strategies firm Metzger Associates as New Media Practices Manager. In 2007, with companies struggling to understand the value and potential of effective, strategic social media planning, Eric formed WideFoc.us to consult for agencies and corporations, gradually building a team to manage all aspects of community management and content development. Eric serves on nonprofit boards, is an author and keynote speaker, and writes about his food and travel adventures for magazines and online media.
Senior Community Manager
KT is a social media strategist, freelance writer, and former educator. After finishing her degree in journalism at the University of Missouri, she mastered in creative writing at Colorado State University and taught Composition for two years before pivoting into marketing. She uses her advanced education, writing skills, and can-do attitude to assist clients in achieving their business goals. She's currently located in New York City and acts as the primary account manager on the East Coast — boldly going where WideFoc.us has never gone before. When she's not at work, you can find her hiking, writing, or at a movie theater arcade playing “Mortal Kombat II.”
Community Manager & Digital Storyteller
With 5+ years of experience in digital marketing, social media creation, and content development, Sarah’s skills enrich the team at WideFoc.us. She has a 6-year-old Chihuahua named Roz and enjoys living in Capitol Hill.
In addition, she enjoys writing screenplays, playing video games, and exploring Denver.
As a former teacher, editor, and writing center administrator, Cory uses his writing expertise to help clients reach their targets by developing strategic social media plans that align with their larger marketing goals and digital presence — specializing in transforming technical writing into easily digestible, engaging content. He holds a BA from St. John’s College and an MFA from Colorado State University.
Outside of the office, he can be found rebuilding cars and writing fiction.
Sarah Hansen Shields
Sarah has more than a decade of professional copywriting experience, with clients ranging from cruise travel to library software. After finishing her undergraduate English degree from Concordia College - New York, she lived in Australia for two years to complete a Masters of Arts and Media in Digital Media from Griffith University, then returned home to study fiction for an MFA in Creative Writing from Colorado State University. She hopes to never teach undergraduates again.
Sarah is originally from Colorado — born, raised, and still in love with the state. She is a proud dog (and cat!) mom and has never met a pit bull terrier that she didn’t like. She was recently voted Most Likely To Interrupt Team Meetings To Point Out A Cute Dog.
Community Manager & Copy Editor
Zach holds a BA from Tulane University in New Orleans and an MFA from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. He has worked as a waiter, a high school teacher in Thailand, a freelance editor, and a college writing instructor. He likes poetry, comic books, cooking, his dog, and the NBA. Zach’s high-level copy editing ensures that all WideFoc.us content is reviewed for accuracy, syntax, brand voice, and mechanics.
Nina has worked in digital content for more than a decade and her forehead wrinkles get deeper every time she admits that. With a background in web and mobile technology, as well as healthcare startups, she excels at translating academic research and technical jargon into consumable content. She is a part of the organizing team of MeGa Health Jam—an annual healthcare-focused game jam. She also serves as the Creative Director at Health Innovators—a community based organization aimed at elevating innovative voices in healthcare.
You can find Nina hanging out with her husband and two dogs, pretending to hike more than they actually do. When she has time, she writes sad but funny stories that she hopes to sell to you one day.
Katie is an introverted extrovert who loves Malbec and all mysteries except the one involving her children going silent. Being a mom to four kiddos has given her the skills to manage an office of creatives. (Her degree from Regis University in psychology helps, too.)
When not coordinating Pluto's demanding, public speaking schedule, Katie helps keep her co-workers organized and on deadline. Lately her free time consists of roping her family into their own version of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (two kid rooms down!)
Born and raised in Colorado, Zach left for New York after high school to live and study in the big city. Zach has since pursued Communications, Media, Spanish, and Philosophy at Brooklyn College. He also recently returned from a year abroad in Seville, Spain where he spent a year learning Spanish and traveling. Zach’s favorite ways to spend free time include snowboarding, drawing, playing music, people watching, and fantasizing about world travel.
As Pluto’s mentee, Zach does everything from content development to media monitoring. His latest adventure is helping senior community manager KT Heins bring WideFoc.us to the Big Apple.
Simone has been an intern at WideFoc.us for the past two summers, curating and tracking content while learning more about social ad strategy and graphic design. She currently attends the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington and intends to major in Japanese. While at school she is the president of the Anime Club, which holds monthly karaoke parties. She is also the secretary of the Fencing Club and an active member of the campus Writer’s Guild.
In her free time, Simone enjoys playing video games, drawing, and writing fanfiction for the Hugo Award-winning website Archive of Our Own.
