Why Summer Might Be the Best Time to Grow Your Brand

Let me just say it: Summer is one of the most underrated seasons in marketing. Everyone's in vacation mode and brands basically go radio silent until September. And honestly? That's exactly why you should be doing the opposite.

If your competitors are hitting cruise control this summer, that's your opportunity.

While a lot of brands pull back and wait for fall, the brands that see the opportunity use this quieter season to build visibility, strengthen their strategy, and get ahead before everyone else starts fighting for attention in Q4.

Here's what most brands get wrong about summer: Attention doesn't disappear — it shifts.

People are scrolling by the pool, watching videos on vacation, listening to podcasts during road trips, and spending time online without the usual flood of meetings, deadlines, and workplace distractions competing for their attention. Honestly, I know that's exactly how I spend a lot of my summer downtime!

For instance, a well-timed post in July can land differently than it would during a busy season. When your brand posts something relatable during the off-season, people are more likely to pay attention and, more importantly, remember you.

Summer is full of moments people care about. Fourth of July, graduation season, back-to-school prep, outdoor festivals — these aren't just calendar dates. They're moments people are actively planning for, talking about, and emotionally invested in. I've spent more than a few summer nights standing in endless rooftop lines around NYC, scrolling on my phone while I wait. Chances are your audience isn't much different.

When your brand shows up in those conversations in a natural and helpful way, you’re not just running another promotion, you’re becoming part of the season.

That's one of the reasons we love working with clients on their summer social strategy. This season is an ideal time to stay visible, test fresh ideas, and make your content feel a little more human. Share photos from a team BBQ, highlight summer Fridays, post vacation snapshots, or show some behind-the-scenes moments.

People connect with people. That has always been the most powerful marketing tool in the room.

So before you hit pause on your marketing this summer, don't write the season off! A little creativity and consistency now can go a long way when fall rolls around.

You never know which post is going to stop someone mid-scroll while they're sitting by the pool or avoiding one more family BBQ conversation.

And if you're looking for fresh ideas, we'd love to chat.
